The show tells the story of two Latter-Day Saints (LDS) missionaries, Kevin Price and Arnold Cunningham, preaching to the local population of a village in Uganda and their continuous struggles to find the best methods to spread their religion.

Applauded as one of the most modern and creative musicals of all time, The Book of Mormon has been a certified hit from all around the globe. In its tour over a number of cities in the United States, London’s West End, and Australia among others, the Broadway hit has been met with an impressive reception from audiences and sold-out shows. In Portland, it is expected to be no different as the performance on Friday 27th September 2024 will be staged in Cross Insurance Arena, with a reputation of staging the premier plays and musicals, and treasured by many because of its beautiful facilities and adequate seating.

The Book of Mormon is a musical comedy about religious teachings and stories, specifically Mormon missionaries named Kevin Price and Arnold Cunningham, as they are ordered to represent and preach their religion’s faith and teachings to a small local village in Uganda. They discover however, the local residents are indifferent to their preaching, as they are fighting against more dangerous issues. The pair then try different methods to convert the locals, with Cunnigham’s often involving adding fiction and fantasy to his religious teachings.

After a decade of success, The Book of Mormon has accumulated several awards in both Broadway and West End. Let's not forget the nine Tony Awards out of fourteen total nominations, including for Best Musical after its debut in 2011, four Drama Desk Awards, and three Outer Circle Critics awards. In the West End production of the musical which debuted in 2013 at the Prince of Wales theatre, it won four Laurence Olivier Awards again including for Best Musical. Then from the other side of the world, from the Australian tour in 2017, it also won two Helpmann Awards that also included for Best Musical.

Financially, The Book of Mormon has also achieved spectacular monetary success with more than 4,600 performances as of the end of 2023. It has earned over $1 billion dollars worldwide, and was even favored by the church through ad buys of ad space, billboards, bus advertising space, and other marketing campaigns in the several destinations in which the show performed in.
